- חוקרים שונים טוענים שספרים שנרשמו על שם דאקטאר שענעמן הם למעשה ספרים שנכתבו על ידי אביו, יצחק סטנוב (ראו, למשל, (פלאי 1988, 85-84; הערה 28). לדעתי, הדבר נובע מן התפיסה המסורתית של המחקר כלפי סטנוב כזייפן. סטנוב כתב את כל ספריו בעברית, ואילו ספר זה נכתב בגרמנית באותיות עבריות. כמו כן, הספר מכיל ידע מדעי מדוייק ומפורט, שסביר להניח כי הבן בעל השכלה אקדמית ורופא עשוי לשלוט בו יותר מאשר אביו.
