<p>All notes by Chaim Meiselman: notes This is a mini-edition of only the text of Rashi’s commentary on the Pentateuch. It continues a line of printings of Rashi without another text accompanying it on the page, similar to a manuscript edition; this follows the few historic editions of Rashi’s text alone in a single-column, such as the ones printed at Rome ca. 1470, Reggio Calabria 1475, Venice 1522, Rimini 1525, Augsburg 1534, among others. According to a lengthy note on the quarto edition of this work printed the same year, the editor used variations and corrections to the commentary listed in the commentaries of Elijah Mizrachi (ca. 1455-1525) and the volume called ’Yosef Da’at’ by Yosef b. Yisakhar. The note is signed by Joshua b. Refa’el da Silva, indicating that he was the editor and not David de Castro Tartas. Added editor: Samuel b. Barukh Rosas. Steinschneider notes that the two volumes consisting of the set of the mini edition was poorly bound together at the original bindery, resulting in the losses of some columns. references Steinschneider, M.
