NIKITIN Victor Nikitich (1839 - 1908, St. Petersburg), Schriftsteller, Historiker, Publizist, Memoirist. НИКИТИН Виктор Никитич (1839 – 1908, Петербург), писатель, историк, публицист, мемуарист. В 9 лет был взят в кантонисты в Нижний Новгород, обращен в православие и получил рус. имя и фам. (еврейское имя и фам. неизв.). С 1850-х гг. домашний секр. дир. канцелярии воен. мин. К.П.Кауфмана. Занимался самообразованием. С 1869 один из дир. Петерб. тюремного к-та, чиновник по особым поручениям Мин-ва земледелия и гос. имуществ. В период подготовки и проведения в жизнь суд. реформы 1864 выступал с очерками о тюремной жизни в журн. «Сын Отечества» и газ. «С.-Петерб. ведомости», опубл. ряд иссл., заложивших основы изучения пенитенциарной системы в России. В автобиогр. произв. «Многострадальные» (1872), «Век прожить – не поле перейти» («Еврейская б-ка», т. 4, отд. изд. –1876, сокр. вариант – «На детской каторге». Л., 1926) и др. первым описал жизнь и быт малолетних евреев-кантонистов. В работах «Евреи-земледельцы. Адм. и бытовое положение колоний в Херсонской и Екатеринославской губ. в 1807–1887» (журн. «Восход», 1881–86, отд. изд. – 1887) и «Еврейские поселения северо- и юго-западных губерний в 1835–1890» (1894) одним из первых обратился к изучению проблем еврейских земледельч. колоний в России. Некоторые пов. и рассказы Н. вошли в сб. «Жажда наживы» (1875) и «Рассказы и очерки» (1875).
