В 1869 был издан рус.-идиш словарь Л., в 1876 – идиш-рус. словарь, оба ставшие значит, явлением в еврейской лексикографии. В газ. «Кол мевасер» был опубл. ряд науч.-попул. ст. Л., написанных в форме диалогов. Л. принадлежит также учебник физики на идише. Организовал в Бердичеве «Об-во защиты женщины», целью к-рого была борьба с проституцией и исправление нравов с помощью обществ. полезного труда. В открытой Л. швейной мастерской, где трудились он сам и его дети, работницы были компаньонами хозяев.
