В марте 1941 назначен с понижением в должности зам. командира 84-го стрелк. полка в Брестскую крепость. Руководил обороной одного из р-нов крепости. Раненный, попал в плен, расстрелян. На месте расстрела Ф. установлена мемориальная доска. Орд. Ленина (1957).
