С 1939 – корр. газ. «Правда». После войны, работая в газ., одноврем. делал репортажи на радио. В 1953–64 сотрудничал в журн. «Москва». Писал под пс. Я.Карпов. Автор кн.: «Твердый сплав» (М., 1972), «Дальневосточный маяк» (М., 1975), «Повесть о великом инженере» (М., 1978), «Оловянный меридиан» (М., 1980), «Званию верны» (М., 1981) и др.
