PANOVKO Yakov Gilelevich (1913, Kobrin, Grodno province - 2002, Berlin), specialist in the field of mechanics. Dr. Tech. Sciences (1940), prof. (1944), bp. Academy of Sciences of the Latvian SSR (1958). In 1935 he graduated from Moscow. road institute, taught at Leningrad. military-air Ing. academy (1943–50), in the Latvian state. un-those and Riga Polytechnic. in-those (1950–63, head of the department of theoretical mechanics and strength of materials), in Leningrad. shipbuilding. in-those (1964–93), where he headed the department until 1988. Chl. Nat. to-that USSR on theoretical. and Applied Mechanics (1965). Since 1993 - in Germany. scientific. work in the region. builds. mechanics, applied mathematics and the theory of elasticity, the theory of vibrations and impact mechanics as applied to the calculation of aircraft structures and other elastic systems. В 1935 окончил Моск. автодорожный ин-т, преподавал в Ленингр. воен.-возд. инж. академии (1943–50), в Латвийском гос. ун-те и Рижском политехн. ин-те (1950–63, зав. кафедрой теоретич. механики и сопротивления материалов), в Ленингр. кораблестроит. ин-те (1964–93), где заведовал кафедрой до 1988. Чл. Нац. к-та СССР по теоретич. и прикладной механике (1965). С 1993 – в Германии.Осн. науч. работы в обл. строит. механики, прикладной математики и теории упругости, теории колебаний и механики удара применительно к расчету конструкций самолета и др. упругих систем.
