Моск. техн. уч-ща в 1911, работал там же, в 1929–52 зав. кафедрой теории резания металлов и инструмента. Науч. труды связаны с физ. основами теории резания металлов. В 1941–45 руководил разработкой специфич. процессов обработки деталей для вооружения на орудийных и др. з-дах. В 1951 предложил метод определения стойкости режущего инстр-та, установил рациональные параметры режущей части, к-рые были использованы при разработке гос. стандартов.
