LEVIAS Kaspar (1860, Provinz Zhagory Shavelsky u. Kovno - 1934, New York), Hebraist. In den Jahren 1893 bis 1894 studierte er am Department of the East. lang. Columbia un-that, 1894–95 - in der Abteilung für semitische Sprachen. Johns Hopkins University (USA). In den Jahren 1895-1905 unterrichtete er an uch. Institution für die Ausbildung von Rabbinern in Cincinnati, 1910–20 dir. Jüdische Schule in Newark (New Jersey). Als überzeugter Zionist hat L. viel getan, um die Moderne zu fördern. Litisch auf Hebräisch. Die Hauptinteressen von L. sind semitische Philologie und Grammatik. L. gehört zur Forschung. über die Grammatik der aramäischen Redewendungen im babylonischen Talmud (1900). 1930 veröffentlichte er es auf Hebräisch in überarbeiteter Form ("Dikduk Aramit Oavlit"). 1914–15 veröffentlichte er zwei Teile Hebräisch-Deutsch-Englisch. Wörterbuch der jüdischen Philologie. Terminologie. Hat ein Wörterbuch mit Honig zusammengestellt. Begriffe im hebräischen lit-re gefunden.

A convinced Zionist, L. did a lot for the propaganda of the present. lit-ry in Hebrew. L.'s main interests are Semitic philology and grammar. L. belongs to the research. on the grammar of the Aramaic idioms contained in the Babylonian Talmud (1900). In 1930 he published it in Hebrew in a revised form ("Dikduk Aramit Oavlit"). In 1914–15 he published two parts of Hebrew-German-English. dictionary of Jewish philology. terminology. Compiled a dictionary of honey. terms found in Hebrew lit-re.

Убежденный сионист, Л. много сделал для пропаганды совр. лит-ры на иврите. Сфера основных интересов Л. – семитская филология и грамматика. Л. принадлежит иссл. по грамматике арамейских идиом, содержащихся в Вавилонском Талмуде (1900). В 1930 издал его на иврите в переработанном виде («Дикдук арамит оавлит»), В 1914–15 выпустил две части иврит-нем.-англ. словаря еврейской филол. терминологии. Составил словарь мед. терминов, встречающихся в лит-ре на иврите.
