Окончил в 1926 общеобразоват. курсы для рабочих и поступил на физ.-матем. отд. Моск. гос. ун-та, окончил в 1930. С 1955 зав. кафедрой геофизики Моск. геолого-развед. ин-та. Один из основоположников отечественной науч. школы разведочной геофизики (электроразведки).Осн. иссл. связаны с разработкой теоретич. основ разведочной геофизики, электроразведки и электрич. каротажа.
