В ходе борьбы за власть внутри парт. верхушки в 1957 получил строгий выговор как активный участник «антипарт. группы», выведен из состава ЦК и Президиума ЦК, снят с высш. гос. постов и направлен в Свердловскую обл., с 1957 дир. Уральского калийного комбината. С 1961 на пенсии.
