В 1873 приехал в Вильну, где стал помощником корректора в типографии вдовы и братьев Ромм, сочинял сказки в стиле А.-М.Дика и нек-рую их часть издал: «А юнге тойб фар а корбн» («Молодой голубь в жертву», 1878). Г. принадлежат также лингвистич. опыты: «Мишлей хахамим» (пословицы), 1879, «Гебраистские мужские и женские имена, употребляемые в жаргоне» (1905), «Гебраистско-евр. словарь выражений и слов из Торы, употребляемых в евр. беседе и в лит-ре» (1910) и др. Г. был автором неск. сб-ков песен и нар. мелодий, а также муз. произв.Сын Г. – Эммануил (род. в нач. 70-х гг. 19 в., дальнейших сведений нет) был также сочинителем сказок на иврите и идише.
