Писал также филос. работы. В ром. «Женщина на пути» (М., 1917) и в иссл. «Женщина и мир мужской культуры» (М., 1913) выразился антифеминизм А. В памфлетах «Русское слово», «»Новое время» и соблазненные младенцы» (оба – Пг., 1916) А. писал о деморализации лит-ры и об-ва под тлетворным влиянием больших газет. А. было присуще ощущение катастрофич. развития России. Составленная А. «История рус. поэзии» была премирована в 1914 Ученым к-том Мин-ва нар. просвещения.
