From 1876 - in E.-I., he studied at the Yeshiva "Etz-Chaim" and at the school "Lemel", then worked in the secretariat of the Yeshiva "Etz-Khaim" and in the hospitals "Bikur-Holim" and "Misgav Ladakh". He became famous for his publ. performances in periodic. print in Yiddish and Hebrew, as well as in it. and French. press. Conducted a wide range of activities, tried to organize a meeting between T. Herzl and S. Salant. During the 1st world. war headed the commission of aid to Jewish soldiers. Supervised the construction of new districts in Jerusalem. One of the founders of a school for blind children in the same place. The author of works on local history E.-I. and commentaries on the Torah.
