Окончил соц.-экон. ф-т Минского пед. ин-та (1934), затем преподавал там же. В 1941 – в армии. В 1941–44 преподаватель Кзыл-Ордынского пед. ин-та. В 1944–83 в Белорусском гос. ун-те, одноврем. преподавал в пед. и юрид. ин-тах Минска. Автор науч. тр. по истории Др. Рима и Востока, истории религии, иудаизму, библеистике, кумрановедению и др., в числе к-рых «Классовая борьба в Иудее и восстания против Рима» (1957), «Кумранские рукописи и их ист. значение» (1959), «Происхождение и реакц. сущность иудаизма» (1962), «Происхождение христианства в свете рукописей Мертвого моря» (1967), «Очерки историографии Библии и раннего христианства» (1970) и др.
