YASTROV Morris (1861, Warsaw - 1921 or 1922, Philadelphia), Semitologist. Brother of I. Yastrov. He studied in Leipzig, Strasbourg, Paris. Since 1892 prof. University of Pennsylvania in the Department of Semitic languages. From 1898 also the director. university library. He was considered one of the largest Assyrologists of the beginning. 20th century Ed. biblical dep. "Jewish Encyclopedia", published in the USA in 1901–06. Among the book. Me: The Religion of the Babylonians and Assyrians (1898), The Study of Religion (1901), The Jews and the Babylonian Tradition (1914), The Book of Job (1920), The Song of Songs (1921), The Ancient Babylonian Version the epic of Gilgamesh ”(1923). In 1919 Ya. Published a book directed against Zionism - "Zionism and the Future of Palestine."
