ГОЛМШТОК Хаим (1882, Минск – 1942), публицист, лингвист, педагог. Брат Ф.Голмштока. В 1916—18 учительствовал в рабочем ун-те им. Шолом-Алейхема в Нью-Йорке. После рев-ции вернулся в Минск, продолжал пед. и науч. деятельность. Когда в Ин-те евр. культуры при АН Белоруссии была организована спец. комиссия по составлению «Большого академического толкового словаря евр. (идиш) языка», Г. ее возглавил. В 1934 выступил в Киеве на всес. совещании по яз. с докл. «О толковом словаре евр. яз.». Еще раньше составил хрестоматию по лит-ре для нач. классов, выступал в центр, и респ. газ. и ж. со ст. по проблемам евр. лингвистики, редактировал изд. «Идишер вертербух» (пробный вып., Минск, 1935) и написал к нему предисловие. В 1935 Г. переезжает в Биробиджан и возглавляет там науч. комиссию при облисполкоме, проводит большую организац. работу по планировавшемуся созыву языковой конф. (она не состоялась). Изучал разл. диалекты идиша переселенцев из разных регионов в Биробиджан. В ж. «Форпост» (1937, №1) опубл. науч. иссл. «Унификация евр. диалектов». Был репрессирован.
