GUREVICH Witold (1904, Lodz - 1957, USA), Mathematiker. Abschluss an der Un-T in Lodz. 1926 promovierte er in Wien. Von 1927 bis 1928 arbeitete er dann in Amsterdam - an der Universität von Sev. Carolina (USA), seit 1945 - an der Massachusetts Technol. in denen. leistete einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Dimensionstheorie, begründete die homologische Gruppentheorie und erweiterte den ergodischen Satz von D.Birkgoda auf Räume ohne unveränderliches Maß.

Carolina (USA), since 1945 - at the Massachusetts Technol. in-those. made an important contribution to the theory of dimensions, founded the homological theory of groups, extended D.Birkgoda's ergodic theorem to spaces without an invariant measure.
