Energischer Verächter des Pilpul und Autodidakt in den mathematischen Wissenschaften. Dajan und Darschan (Prediger) in Prager machte zeitlebens ein Prinzip daraus, für seine rb. Leistungen nicht die mindeste Vergütung anzunehmen. 1755 erbot er sich unentgeltlich für das Amt des Oberrb., unterlag aber bei der Wahl gegen Ez. Landau. Seine Unterschrift unter dessen Berufungsbrief, die er zunächst verweigerte, soll er erst nach dem Antrittsvortrag des Polen hinzugefügt haben. Jakob Emden liefert ihm gehässige persönliche Attacken im Sefär ha-Hith’avquth (1762-69).";
