Enkel von Seligmann-Bär Bamberger, dem „Würzburger Raw“ erster Unterricht durch den Vater Moses U., 1885 Gymnasium, 1889 Abitur, Univ. und RS Berlin, weitere Studien bei Markus Horovitz in Frankfurt a. M., 1895 Promotion in Würzburg. Drei Jahre Mitglied des Bet Din in Frankfurt a. M. unter Leitung von Rb. M. Horovitz 1895 Rb. in Würzburg als Nachfolger von Ludwig Rosenthal, der nach Köln ging, 1898-1935 Klausrb. der Lemle- Klaus in Mannheim 1920 Berufung zum Gemeinderabbiner Urlaubsvertreter von Leopold Löwenstein in Mosbach. Gründer (1923) und Präsident der „Achdut“ (Vereinigung gesetzestreuer Juden in Deutschland). 1928-1935 Mitgründer und Leiter einer Organisation zur Verteidigung des Schächtens. 1921-1935 Mitglied des Oberrats der Israeliten Badens, seit 1924 Konferenzrabbiner des Oberrats widersetzte sich Versuchen des Oberrats zur Einführung liberaler Gebetsbücher in badischen Synagogen. Mitglied im Verein zur Wahrung der Interessen des gesetzestreuen Judentums in Baden nach 1929 Mitglied des Council der Jewish Agency, 1934 Mitglied in der Reichsvertretung. Mitglied im Hebräischen Literaturverein Mekize Nirdamim und der August Lamey-Loge Mannheim. Aug. 1935 in den Ruhestand und mit seiner Frau nach Palästina emigiert. 1936 Mitgründer und Rb. der Gemeinde „Binyan Zion“ in Jerusalem und deren Chevra Kadisha (Beerdigungsbruderschaft). Mitglied der „B’nai B’rith“ und des Ariel (Vereinigung ehemaliger Studenten des RS Berlin). Seine Söhne Moses und Victor/Avigdor und sein Neffe Josef Unna studierten ebenfalls am RS Berlin und emigrierten zwischen 1927 und 1935 nach Palästina Josef (1897-1979), Biograph von Markus Horovitz, wurde Lehrer, Moses (1902-1989) wirkte für die Jugend- Aliya und war 1949-1970 Mitglied der Knesset, ab 1970 Direktionsmitglied des Jüdischen Nationalfonds Victor (1904-1982) wurde erst Getreide-, dann Buchhändler und wirkte später in der von seinem Vater gegründeten Gemeinde als Kantor, Lehrer und Gemeindevorsteher.
