Holdheim Rb. in Frankfurt/O.\n1848 Vertreter am Landesrt. in Emden, das seit dem Weggang S. R. Hirschs vakant ist, 1850 Oberrb. in Rotterdam, wird Jakob Ettlingers Schwiegersohn. Legt das Amt 1871 nieder und zieht sich ins Privatleben zurück. Kurzzeitig übernimmt er das ihm angebotene Rabbinat in Wieleñ (Filehne), geht dann nach Hamburg (Eimsbüttlerstr. 12). Auf Wunsch der Orthodoxen predigt er in der Betstube im Convent-Garten, dann in der eigens für ihn gegründeten Privatsynagoge „Nwé Scholaum“ auf dem Jungfernstieg. Die Deutsch-Israelitische Gemeinde ernennt ihn zum „Ehrenrabbiner“, jedoch die Beziehungen zum Gemeinderb. Anschel Stern waren nicht ungetrübt. Sein Leichnam wurde auf seinen Wunsch nach Wieleñ überführt.";
