Ritueller Verfehlungen beschuldigt, verteidigt er sich erfolgreich, wird aber nicht wiedergewählt. 1859-1861 Rb. bei der Gemeinde „Nidche Israel“ in Baltimore, außerdem Rb. in Syracuse, in New Orleans und bei der „Scheerith Jisroel“ in Cincinnati. Tritt gemeinsam mit Raphall gegen die Reformer um Wise auf und verteidigt im Bürgerkrieg die konservative Haltung zur Sklaverei. Er verunglückte bei einem Wagenunfall.";
