Vom Gemeindevorstand wurde ihm der Prozeß gemacht. „Der im Jahre 1859 in Pommerisch Stargardt angestellt gewesene Rabbiner M. Hulisch wurde beschuldigt, daß er sich wahrheitswidrig für einen Sohn des jüdischen Lehrers Hulisch zu Heilsberg, gegenwärtig in Bromberg, ausgab, daß er vielmehr Baruch Israel heiße, in Rußland geboren sei und nachdem er sich dort vor mehr als 21 Jahren verheirathet und seine Ehefrau verlassen hatte, jetzt eine zweite Ehe mit einer Preußin eingehen wolle. Hr. M. H. verlor seine Stelle und wurde verflossenen Sommer sammt seiner russischen Gegnerschaft hier vor Gericht gestellt“ (Israelit 1861, S. 22). H. wurde freigesprochen\namtiert später kurzzeitig in Roudnice nad Labem (Raudnitz a. d. Elbe), Böhmen.";
