Sohn des Rb. Salomon B. und seiner Ehefrau Sophie, geb. Hirsch Urenkel von Shimon Wiener, Av Bet Din in Lauschbrünn (Lovasberény). Volksschule in Pápa, 1890- 1896 Realschule der IRG in Frankfurt a. M., 1898-1903 Studium an der unter Leitung seines Vaters stehenden Breuer-Jeschiwa, gleichzeitg Privatunterricht in den Gymnasialfächern. 1901 Reifeprüfung am kgl. Gymnasium zu Rinteln, 1903 Ordination durch seinen Vater und Koppel Reich, Budapest. 1903-1905 an den Univn. Gießen und Straßburg Hörer der Philosophie und Staatswissenschaften historische Studien, Promotion 1905. Staatsexamen am 22.12.1905, zunächst Lektor, dann 1906-1926 Oberlehrer, seit 1. April 1911 Studienrat für Bibel, Literatur und Geschichte an der S.R. Hirsch-Realschule und dem Lyceum der IRG in Frankfurt a. M. Seit 1919 zugleich Stiftsrabbiner an der Wertheimerschen Klaus-Synagoge im Ostend. Dozent im Verein Mekor Chajim. Um 1924/25 Dozent und 1926-1938 als Nachfolger seines Vaters Leiter der Breuer-Jeschiwa. 1933-1934 Rb. in Fiume, Italien leitete hier auch, die zum Teil nach Fiume übergesiedelte Jeschiwa. Nach der Zwangs-Schließung der Breuer-Jeschiwa im Dez. 1938 Emigration nach Belgien mit der Absicht, in Heide bei Antwerpen zu unterrichten. 1939 Ruf in die USA, Gründer und Vorsitzender des „K’hal Adath Jeshurun“, der bedeutendsten orthodoxen dt.-jüd. Einwanderergemeinde der USA, Washington Heights, NY. 1944 Leiter der dortigen Jeshiwa, 1977 Ruhestand. Seit 1911 mit Rika Eisenmann aus Antwerpen verheiratet acht Kinder.
