Seine dennoch strenge orthodoxe Haltung und insbes. seine Weigerung, Sabbatübertreter zur Tora zu rufen, führt zu Streit mit der Gemeinde und 1849 zu seiner Amtsniederlegung. Fortan führt R. einen Kaufladen\n1851 gründet er eine private Synagoge, an der er auch Predigten hält. Erst in den letzten sechs Monaten seines Lebens nimmt er wieder ein Rabbineramt an.";
