Seine zeitweise 150 Schüler zählende Akademie galt als letzte böhmische Jeschiwa und veranlasste 1842 Moses Montefiore zu einem Besuch in der 613-Seelen-Gemeinde. Wegen Erkrankung mußte K. seine Jeschiwa schon 1843 schließen. Er hielt seit 1845 wieder allsabbatlich Lehrvorträge, die er 1861 wegen eines Augenleidens wiederum einstellen mußte.
