Schwiegersohn des Todros Munk in Posen, wird dort Dajan und Jeschiwaleiter unter Raphael Cohen, folgt diesem 1776 nach Altona, wird später Dajan für Wandsbek/Hamburg dann für Altona/Hamburgnach Cohens Amtsniederlegung 1799 Rabbinatspräses der Dreigemeinde, führt zum 26. April 1812 deren von den franz. Autoritäten angeordnete Trennung durch. Nach der französischen Annexion Hamburgs am 18. Feb. 1813 ernannt zum Konsistorial-Oberrb. des Département Bouches de l’Elbe (7.092 Juden), stirbt nach kaum einjähriger Amtszeit. Seine Witwe erhält eine Gemeindepension.";
