Laut Gemeindebeschluß vom 14. Nov. 1814 wird die Abhaltung von Privatgottesdiensten in seinem Haus untersagt\nein großherzogl. Reskript in diesem Sinne ergeht am 15. März 1816. Dem Kaufmannsberuf nachgehend, gab J. eigene Ritualentscheidungen aus und war nach der Verabschiedung der meckl. Synagogenordnung durch den Reformrb. Sam. Holdheim (19. Apr. 1843) erneut der Anführer einer Gruppe orthod. Dissidenten, der mit Reskript vom 22. Mai 1844 und Unterstützung von S. R. Hirsch separate Gottesdienste gestattet wurden. Noch 1848 tritt er als Gegner von Holdheims Nachfolger Dav. Einhorn auf.";
