the uniformity of the various sectional schools and bring them under the control of a central Administration. The schools of the Education Department in the years 5694 and 5695 according to Budget categories. It should be observed that the schools of the Department are divided, from a budgetary aspect, into three categories, as follows : Category A. Schools for whose total budget the Central Administration is responsible. Schools under this category are also called " maintained " schools. All their income, such as school fees, local contributions, etc., is collected by the Central Administration and appears in its Budget. Category B. Schools maintained and directed by special organisations or local committees, which are granted a special subsidy by the Central Administration, but for whose total budget the Central Administration is not responsible. Schools under this category are also called " subsidised " schools. An appreciable part of the income of these establishments is collected and expended by them direct, and these amounts do not, therefore, appear in the Budget of the Department. A complete statement of expenditure and income appears in Table 3. Category C. Affiliated establishments under the supervision of the Education Department, but which receive no subsidy from it. 391
