members of the Council, throughout the country, including many Zionists. Members of our organisation have also taken part in the work of Jewish religious communities and economic organisations. Propaganda and Press. We recently published a pamphlet by our Chairman, Dr. E. Schmorak, entitled Der Aufbau Eres Israels und seine Probleme. We organised a number of district conferences which were very largely attended, and our leading members visited most of the local branches. The daily Chwila, which appears in Polish is the official organ of our organisation. The weekly Die Zionistische Woch appeared regularly in Yiddish during the last two years and circulates only in Yiddish-reading circles. Periodical publications are issued by our youth organisations, including the fortnightly Hanoar Hazioni. RUMANIA. Old Rumania. After the 18th Congress the following provisional Executive continued in office : Mr. L. Mizrachi, Chairman, and Mr. Pincu Hart, Dr. F. Mosberg, Dr. G. Szöny and Dr. H. Weinberg-Verea. The principal task of this Executive was to prepare the 20th Conference' of the Old Rumanian Federation, which did not take place until December 25th and 26th, 1933. During the interval the Executive, owing to lack of means, was unable to carry on any extensive activity, but it nevertheless achieved many results. It organised protest demonstrations against the limitation of immigration into Palestine, which took place at the end of November, 1933, in Bucarest and in the provinces. The resolutions adopted at these meetings were forwarded to the Colonial Office through the medium of the British Ambassador in Bucarest as well as to the Executive of the Jewish Agency. These meetings resulted in strengthening the Zionist consciousness of the Jewish masses and in helping to develop the Zionist movement into a powerful factor. The visits of members of the World Executive, Dr. A. Ruppin (September, 1933), and Mr. L Gruenbaum (October, 1933), and the public meetings that took place on those occasions, considerably enhanced the interest of the Jewish masses in our movement. The work of the Tarbuth, thanks to the devoted labours of the Hebrew teachers in Bucarest, has made particular progress. Many courses have been organised, attended by large numbers of students, and have stimulated widespread interest. Our organ, Stiri din Lumea Evreeasca, appeared regularly during this period. The 20th Conference was attended by 190 delegates elected by the various branches. They comprised the following : Hanoar Hazioni, 45; Centre Party, 42; Labour Palestine (Zeire Zion, 231
