GENEVA OFFICE. In accordance with the resolutions of the Nineteenth Zionist Congress and of the Council of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, Dr. Nachum Goldmann was entrusted, in September, 1935, with the conduct of political work in connection with the League of Nations, and also in Paris. Dr. Goldmann having been formally accredited to the League, Dr. Weizmann and he were received on October 23rd., 1935 by the Secretary-General of the League and by the Director of the International Labour Office. At the same time, Dr. M. Kahany, who had for a number of years worked in collaboration with the late Dr. Victor Jacobson in Geneva, was reappointed Political Secretary of the Geneva Office, and in this capacity was also duly accredited to the League of Nations and to the International Labour Office. The work of the Geneva Office during the period under review consisted primarily, as heretofore, in maintaining contact with and keeping informed various circles in Geneva interested in Palestine. These include, in the first place, of course, the Mandates Commission itself and its permanent secretariat in Geneva (the Mandate Section of the League); but in addition there are the representatives of different Governments, who may be either temporarily or permanently in Geneva, as well as of leading international organisations and of the world press. During the period under review Dr. Goldmann was afforded an opportunity of discussing the political and economic affairs of Palestine with the Foreign Ministers or leading diplomatic representatives of a great many of the Governments represented at Geneva. He was furthermore received by leading members of the Governments of a number of European countries, which he visited from time to time. ' In February, 1936 the Geneva Office began the issue, originally under the editorship of Dr. J. Becker, of a fortnightly review in French — "Informations de Palestine" — which deals in a concise and readily digested fashion with current developments in Palestine. Some 1500 copies of this review are regularly distributed, principally to officials of the League and to various political and journalistic persons. This journal has served in some measure to counteract hostile propaganda in Geneva, of which there has been an increase since the outbreak of the disturbances. In addition, Dr. Goldmann has addressed a large number of meetings in Geneva
