106 uniform policy in all Government departments and offices in regard to the use of Hebrew. All documents, forms and correspondence issued to the public should be couched in the official language of the section of the population to whom they are addressed. Every effort should be made to the end that the maximum number of officials should be trilingual and that, in any case, officials should know the ianguage of the community with whom they are mostly required to deal. 4. Considerable resentment has been aroused in the Jewish « community by a recent innovation in the public reading of the Hebrew name of Palestine in official announcements. Whereas formerly the full name 'Eretz Israel" used to be read, the new practice is to substitute for this name a meaningless composite of the Hebrew initials of the two words. With regard to British police the Jewish Agency would submit the need for extending the contract period up to five years and make it renewable subject to the usual conditions. 3. The unsatisfactory results of the work of the Criminal Investigation Department during the recent disturbances both in general intelligence and in the detection of crime call for tne reorganisation of that section of the Force. The Jewish Agency^ submits that such re-organisation should proceed on the principle that all responsible duties in the C.I.D. be entrusted to British Officers. The unsatisfactory state of the prosecution of crime by the Police calls for a similar remedy. 4. With regard to the Transjordan Frontier Force it has been a standing grievance of the Jewish Agency that the character of this Force is such as to preclude an adequate participation of Jews. In fact, Jews in the Transjordan Frontier Force number only
