As, however, the Palestinian market cannot absorbe German goods over and above a certain unsurpassable limit, the Haavara was forced to look for other means of extending the scope of its activities. 1. An agreement was effected which permitted to sell Haavara- Mark in the neighbouring countries of Palestine (Egypt and Iraq), in order to increase the amounts realized by transfer. From September 1935 until April 1st, 1937 three millions of Mark, equal to about 150,000 LP., were realized by the sale of Haavara Mark in the countries of the Middle East.
