After the grant of 600 certificates by the Government in the first half of the year, a further grant of 2400 certificates was obtained in the month of May, 1929. The immigration budget did not suffice to defray the expenses for the new immigration, so that a special effort is made for the collection of a sum of £ 20.000 over and above the regular budget- The results are not yet known. If they fall short of the expectations, the expenditure will fall on next year's budget.
