During the period under review, the income from the Keren Hayesod for the Palestine Zionist Executive budget amounted to LP. 369.117*238 or LP. 12.882.762 less than the estimate. The shortage of income was primarily due to the failure of America to remit its monthly quota during the months of June, July, August, and September, so that the liabilities of the Keren-Hayesod during 5688 were increased as will be shown by their accounts, to which we refer. 5. In comparing the accounts for the year 5688 with those of previous years, it has to be remembered that on the 1st of November, 1927, a new currency was introduced in Palestine. The difference between the Egyptian and Palestine currencies has been taken into account in the following statement, showing a comparative summary of Balance Sheets as per end of 5687 and 5688. 53
