107 graphy on the sabject was published in the Zeitschrift für Bacherfreunde, VIII, pp. 448—452. In a large and important library offered at this moment for sale in New York, and containing mach material dealing with tbe history of book-writing and book-making in Germany, 1 have come across a quärto volume numbered 271 and entitlcd, ״Schriften über Süss Oppenheimer.“ The volume cöntains some fifty various pieces dealing with the subject—portraits, broadsides änd pamphlets as against 22 mentioned in the article published in this Zeitschrift and 51 in the Zeitschrift für Bücherfreunde. The individual pieces have not been numbered separately: so that the actual count• of material here presented is higher than 50. Some of the illustrations would seem to be taken from pamphlets, and this would, on the other hand, somewhat reduce the number. I have no means at hand of verifying my sapposition, as many of the pamphlets mentioned by Freimann and Hagen are not found in this Collection. In the followipg I have put down the titles of the pamphlets and the legends of the pictures and broadsides contained. in the volume and which are not tö be foued in Freimann’s and Hagen’s lists. These will suffice for purposes of identification. In one or two cases, I have repeated titles given by Hagen, as in the copy before me the wording is fuller. I would call especial attention to the manuscript poems, of which I have given the first lines: Steinschneider has called attention to such a manuscript poem in the library of Wolfenbüttel (Z. H. B. IX, p. 59 no. 1; cf. also, ibid. 8, p. 149). Manuscript Poems. 1) Gruss der Schweitzer Zeitung no. 1737. ״Gestern metamophisirt Heute voellig demäsquirt.“ 2) Oster Maerdrler. Heber die Wuertl. inhaftierte Suessianer : oder Ducignoten als dermaliges Narrostanta. - 3) ״Nef! 0 Nef! Dein Sach is Bos Was hast du angerichtet Comission, Confusion Ists dir due ausgerichtet.“ 3) Lamentationes Sueszschen Matressen Visoher. ״Yerfluchte Jude Suess so schreibt dir deine herr®. 4) ״Jud Suess, so ploetzlich sich nuntiert.“ 5) Galgen Aufschrift, . . ״Hier hangt kein Jud und auch kein Christ.“ 6) ' ^Gleichwie die Juden Schelmen sind,“•
